چکیده

A depth estimation algorithm from plenoptic images is presented. There are two stages to estimate the depth. First is the initial estimation base on the epipolar plane images (EPIs). Second is the refinement of the estimations. At the initial estimation, adaptive window matching is used to improve the robustness. The size of the matching window is based on the texture description of the sample patch. Based on the texture entropy, a smaller window is used for a fine texture. A smooth texture requires a larger window. With the adaptive window size, different reference patches based on various depth are constructed. Then the depth estimation compares the similarity among those patches to find the best matching patch. To improve the initial estimation, a refinement algorithm based on the Markov Random Field (MRF) optimization is used. An energy function keeps the data similar to the original estimation, and then the data are smoothed by minimizing the second derivative. Depth values should satisfy consistency across multiple views.

Depth Estimation of Light Field Images by Optical Flow

Light field images present a rich, compact, dataset of multiple images of a scene from slightly shifted viewpoints. I explore the use of an optical flow algorithm on light field images to estimate depth. The optical flow algorithm is simple to implement as does not require finding correspondences between images. Further, I explore the use of image priors and modern optimization techniques to fo...

Depth Estimation Through a Generative Model of Light Field Synthesis

Outline. We show our results on various datasets, including images taken with the Lytro by Tao et al. [2013] and our own dataset, images from the Stanford light field dataset [sta, 2008] and results on an artificial dataset [Wanner et al., 2013]. Furthermore, we expand on details such as the triangular function and the selection of the parameters. Finally, we discuss implications of our no-occl...

Cursor Stereo

Matching pairs of stereo images by computer is a computationally expensive and not completely reliable method for recovering depth information from a scene. However, applications exist in teleoperation and stereo cartography which require accurate matching of images for a small, arbitrarily shaped portion of the entire image, where there may be few matchable features. This work is a step toward...

Optimizing Disparity Candidates Space in Dense Stereo Matching

In this paper, a new approach for optimizing disparity candidates space is proposed for the solution of dense stereo matching problem. The main objectives of this approachare the reduction of average number of disparity candidates per pixel with low computational cost and high assurance of retaining the correct answer. These can be realized due to the effective use of multiple radial windows, i...
